Greenspace LA Times Environmental news from California and beyond September 2, 2010 "Billionaire Koch brothers back suspension of California climate law " "A company owned by oil billionaires Charles and David Koch has contributed $1 million to Proposition 23, a November ballot initiative to suspend California?s groundbreaking 2006 global-warming law." "The contribution came from Flint Hills Resources LP, based in Wichita, Kan., a wholly-owned subsidiary of Koch Industries, the nation's second-largest private company, with estimated annual revenue of $100 billion. It was posted online Thursday by the California secretary of state." "Prop. 23 was launched by two Texas-based refiners, Valero Energy Corp. and Tesoro Corp. which have been its primary funders. The involvement of the Koch brothers signals that the California initiative is likely to become the focus of a national campaign, now that climate change legislation has stalled in Congress." "Prop. 23 would suspend the law until unemployment in the state, now above 12%, drops to 5.5% for four consecutive quarters, a level only seen three times in the last three decades." "The Koch brothers (pronounced Coke), who operate oil refineries in Alaska, Texas and Minnesota, have sponsored a web of groups involved in campaigns to deny the significance of climate change and the need for renewable energy. Koch-funded groups have trained and organized "tea party" activists across the country." "If you combined BP?s approach to safety with Enron?s greed, you would have Koch," said Steve Maviglio, a spokesman for the "No on 23" campaign. "With this contribution, the out-of-state oil companies trying to put their profits before California jobs just got a lot dirtier." --- the Koch brothers and their phony think tanks bankrolled and have worked to deny the dangers of tobacco, formaldehyde, and global warming.

That is because global warming is a hoax! Any one remember CLimateGate? Where the lying Liberals could not even fudge the numbers right with hundreds of millions of UN dollars and ten years to do it. Someone cracked their email account and sent out TEN years of internal emails. The emails showed collusion, clear manipulation of data, conspiracies to edit, delete and not share date with the rest of the scientific world which is a clear violation of standard peer review or research. Cap and Trade is a vehicle to tax ALL forms of energy here in the US and give that money to poorer countries. These HARDCORE Leftists believe that it is not "fair" that we live in such a wonderful country and that America should redistribute HUNDREDS of BILLIONS of dollars EVERY year to Dictators around the world so that they can "like us." Think about it like this if the Left wants it.... It is probably bad for America. Lets go through the list. Cap and Trade. ObamaCare.Card Check. Trillion and half dollar deficits as far as the eye can see. EPA regulation of dust,CO2 and other naturally occurring things. All in the name of knocking down American Business and destroying our economy. When it doesnt make sense ask yourself WHY??? Why would we put MASSIVE TAXES on all forms of energy? Spain did this and they are now bankrupt. 2 years ago Obamboozler was saying Spain was the model for Green Energy. Now he will not talk about it as the economy has collapsed, industry has fled the country to avoid the outrageous prices for energy, and their unemployment is at a record high of 22%!! TWENTY TWO PERCENT!! We are at 9.6% under this Marxist and he is still trying to shove us under. Throw out EVERY LIBERAL/DEM NEXT TUESDAY!!!

The GOP will sacrifice anything in the name of their utopian "free market". They will sacrifice soldiers lives for oil. They will sacrifice hundreds of thousands of Iraqis for oil. They will sacrifice the habitability of the planet for oil. They will sacrifice the U.S. competitiveness in the new clean energy revolution for oil. They will sacrifice anything for this free market, as long as it isn't the rich who are sacrificing.

"Fascism should more properly be called corporatism, since is is the merger of state and corporate power" Benito Mussolini (WW2 era fascist dictator of Italy) We are in far more danger of that, than the socialist scare mongering that right wing talk show hosts and Newt Gingrich blather on about. The extremism is on the right. Anyone who can't see that has blinders on.

Todays GOP * Anyone who criticizes the privelege give to massive corporations is a pinko socialist nation wrecker. We must protect the interests of the rich and investment class. We must protect the tax cuts for the top 2%, who cares if 95% of the middle class gets a tax cut? * 1910 Progressive Republican * "The true friend of property, the true conservative, is he who insists that property shall be the servant and not the master of the commonwealth; who insists that the creature of man?s making shall be the servant and not the master of the man who made it. The citizens of the United States must effectively control the mighty commercial forces which they have called into being." * "There can be no effective control of corporations while their political activity remains. To put an end to it will be neither a short nor an easy task, but it can be done. "It is necessary that laws should be passed to prohibit the use of corporate funds directly or indirectly for political purposes; it is still more necessary that such laws should be thoroughly enforced. Corporate expenditures for political purposes, and especially such expenditures by public-service corporations, have supplied one of the principal sources of corruption in our political affairs." * Teddy Roosevelt

Oh and anyone who criticizes obama is a teaparty racist. What's the difference the middle class aren't spending their tax cuts either. If they were the economy wouldn't where it is now. Of course $13 dollars a week on the average doesnt even equal the taxes you pay.

When you say the "20 years of the biggest and best funded disinformation campaigns in history to confuse the public and congress on climate science." I can only read from that you mean the Lefts attempt via any and all methods to fight a problem which does NOT exist. The same people like John Holdren and Cass Sunstein who today as Senior Advisors to Obamboozler warn us of Global warming 20 years ago were writing books saying the EXACT opposite. That the Earth was going to go into a Ice Age. The Left does not need facts when it has the power of the Liberal Media. You and your Socialist buddies just want to add hundreds of billion every year in new taxes just to support the trillion and half dollar deficit that Obamboozler is creating every year.

Many of the lies about health care were spread by Americans for Prosperity who coached the tea baggers and helped organize their events. This is the private "astro-turf" phony "think tank" and really oil industry front group of the fabulously wealthy Koch family, who own the largest privately held oil company. Their other group, Freedom Works, spreads disinformation about climate change. The Koches outspent Exxon funding the climate change denial PR last year. * Tea baggers aren't free thinkers. They get all their talking points from groups like this, who know how to make them seem like grassroots ideas.

And you get your "Facts" from the Lying Liberal Media..... I would take anything the Media said and EXPECT it to be wrong or manipulated. Guess what the latest Gallop poll says the same thing. Some 60% of America says the Liberal Media slants the news and that it is not the truth. America has seen Liberalism and is rejecting it. See you in SEVEN days at the polls.

Most of the right wing talking points that you repeat are put into the publics consciousness by those that they benefit, the rich and the huge corporations. The tea party is a bunch of people who think they are free thinkers, when they are actually parroting talking points put out by industry funded astro-turf groups. An example is Americans for Prosperity, which was a big influence on the tea party. It is the private astro turf front for the hugely wealthy Koch family who own the largest privately held oil company. They weild tremendous political power and the ability to use the media to spread their talking points. Its for them. Not you. Not if you are a regular working person.
